Being someone who has struggled with dark circles, concealers are an integral part of my makeup collection. I love trying out new concealers that claim to create a flawless look by concealing my dark circles. So when I saw all the great reviews Tarte Shape Tape had, I immediately went out to buy it.
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer is a part of the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Collection, which is sold on tarte.com and exclusively at Ulta, and costs $24. It has been one of the most raved makeup products since its release and I can understand why. Not only can you use it as a regular concealer to cover up blemishes and dark circles, but you can also use it to highlight and contour. Since its release, it has come out with more shades, and did I forget to mention it’s vegan friendly too?
I wasn’t sure what to expect with its performance because the formula is really thick. The applicator is a doe foot with a wide surface area. Because of this, the applicator picks up a good amount of the product so that you do not have to keep dipping the wand to get more.
Thick concealers make my dry skin look even more dry and usually don’t set in well within my fine lines. While the formula is thick and creamy, I was amazed because it did not crease and did not look cakey at all. I did find myself having to work quickly to blend it out because it can set fast. I prefer to use my Sephora Pro Airbrush Concealer brush first and then finish blending it out with my Beauty Blender. With just one layer, I was able to obtain full coverage under my eyes. Usually I have to use a color corrector underneath my concealers to completely hide my dark circles, but with the Tape Shape, it is not necessary! This concealer gives a complete matte finish and is long wearing. I do not find myself needing to touch up during the day.
Tarte Shape Tape concealer is a must have in my opinion because it gives incredible coverage, well worth its price.
